Zhi Rong

Zhi Rong was born in the Chinese city of Xiangtan, Hunan in 1970. He completed a Master's Degree in mural painting at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts and is currently a visiting professor at the School of Art at Xiangtan University. Zhi Rong's works are deeply influenced by the unrest and cacophony that accompanies China's rapid development. What concerns him most, however, is not the bustling street atmosphere or the grandiose cityscape. His interest lies in forming a detached reflection on the development itself, its ramifications, and the underlying political ramifications of cultural import. His dark images are composed of bleak tones and are often hazy with enigmatic fog.
