Pan Ning was born in 1971 in Hubei Province, China, attended the Central Academy of Art and began working in Wuhan. His artworks are directly influenced by Chinese tradition, culture, and the country’s rich history. "I have been painting for so long but I have only realized recently that the history of Chinese culture is extremely broad and profound. Through my work I have gained a deeper understanding of contemporary art, China, and the rest of the world. I have learnt so many things from Chinese culture and the question for me now is how to incorporate that into my new works."
