Born in the Japanese city of Yokohama in 1978, Kayu Nagai has been featured in many solo and group exhibitions around Japan. Nagai attended the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music and after moving to Berlin, continued to focus her work on landscape and industry.
The power of Nagai’s paintings lies in their simplicity. The expansive and infinite skies, so often emphasised in her works are accentuated by the juxtaposition of small images of nature and the impermanent elements of industry and mankind. Strongly influenced by Asia and Germany , the soft colours and vast skies in Nagai’s works have left us with a beautiful selection of pictures.
