After two years of preparatory drawings in workshops, Claude Miquel broke her family tradition of teaching by attending the Decorative Arts University in Paris. Her works are defined by her love for color and the feel of fabric. She has developed a unique drawing method, in which she applies wax directly onto silk without prior sketching. The lines created are irreversible and reflect the impulsive desire to create. They display the incredible patience that is required to be able to work with traditionally difficult mediums such as silks, cotton, and linen.
